Updating the IPY Publications Database for the IPY 2012 Conference in Montreal

The organizations maintaining the IPY Publications Database are working hard to provide up-to-date coverage in time for the IPY 2012 conference in Montreal April 22-27. If you have IPY 2007-2008 publications to report, please read and act on this message.

The database is maintained by the Arctic Institute of North America, the American Geosciences Institute, the Scott Polar Research Institute, the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center and NISC Export Services Pvt. Ltd.

The IPY Publications Database is available at http://www.nisc.com/ipy. It currently describes 5134 publications, but many IPY publications have not yet been reported. The database covers peer-reviewed and gray literature, in paper and digital formats. In addition to IPY research publications, the database covers IPY education, outreach and communication publications.

IPY researchers, educators and communicators are encouraged to report their project's publications by e-mailing a list of references to:

coldregions@agiweb.org  if their publications are about the Antarctic or non-living things,

librarian@spri.cam.ac.uk  if their publications are about living things (including humans), or

astis@ucalgary.ca  if their publications are about northern Canada.


Reporting IPY publications ensures that they are listed not only in the IPY Publications Database, but also, depending on their subject and geographic scope, in the Bibliography on Cold Regions Science and Technology, the Antarctic Bibliography, the Scott Polar Research Institute databases and the Arctic Science and Technology Information System (ASTIS) databases.

A progress report on the IPY Publications Database will be presented at the IPY 2012 Conference in Montreal. Please help to preserve the legacy of IPY 2007-2008 by ensuring that your publications are included.
