The renowned scientist Dr. Robert W. Corell recently accepted a professorship at the brand new Arctic institute on Circumpolar Reindeer Husbandry in Kautokeino. The newly established institute is part of the International Polar Year legacy.

The establishment of UArctic Institute for Circumpolar Reindeer Husbandry, is a result of the International Polar Year (IPY) and the IPY EALÁT project which has investigated traditional reindeer herding societies in the Arctic.

The institute was endorsed by The Board of The University of the Arctic (UArctic) and is situated at The Sámi University College in Kautokeino / Guovdageaidnu.
